I have a gateway laptop that is probably around 5 or 6 years old. I use an x-drive to put all my music, videos and other large documents on, but the computer is still extremely slow. Is there ways to run a diagnostical check on the processor and see what is slowing it up? Any free programs for erasing spyware or other things which may be slowing it down. Any ideas would be much appreciated! thanks

As said above CCleaner is the best and its good for getting rid of temporary files. But it is probably a virus or several viruses so scan your computer and think about what you have installed recently could it be a Trojan?
