Best small antivirus program for dial-up users?

i need something thats good, that wont take so long to download like norton or mcafee...



i also want it to be free..and maybe include spyware/adware/malware protection??



also, i tried to download AVG antivirus, but it said the download was corrupted?

It makes no difference if you are on dial-up or broadband as to your security software. You don't have to download the program, you can purchase them from a store like best buy or amazon.. which is better anyways because then you have the actual disk incase you need to reinstall or incase you want to run the command line scanner.



If you are going to go with freeware you will not be protected.. that's the bottom line.



Freeware doesn't provide real-time protection nor do they provide timely updates (if at all) .. both of which are vital. By the time you run a manual scan you are infected... so you may as well not even bother installing the freeware.



McAfee takes no more time to load than anything else if it is properly configured. You do not have to install ALL of the add-on features. You can even turn off the splash screen.



If your computer is so incredibly slow that it's taking a long time to load then you should look at the CPU speed and amount of RAM you have and see if you can upgrade.
