My PC is getting errors messages...what can I do?

My PC...a well oiled machine...has a problem. Windows has encountered a problem and needs to close will not stop, along with Dr. Watson encountering a problem. The system is free of viruses and spyware. All updates are installed...I tried doing a system restore, but it will not let me restore to an earlier date. This started after I installed a video game w/ active X. Can anyone help?

Have you tried doing a Windows ''system file checker''?

Have you tried starting in SAFE MODE to see if it does the same thing?

I am not sure if it would help, but it sounds reasonable to me. It has fixed a lot of problems for me, but this takes a bit of time to do, and I don't know how long your computer runs without shutting down.
